lyrics

In a minute you’ll feel nothing
But until then, we’ll have fun
And it won’t matter how you struggle
You’ll get no help from anyone

And I’ll admit I get a charge from frantic newscasts
But right now, it’s you and me
They’ll theorize the “who” and “why” but never realize
My modus operandi

This is my design
This is my design
The way I’ve got you here right now
Is how I planned it from the start
And only I know how to slow that racing heart

This is my design

They say they’ve got their best detectives on the case
But none of them have any clue
My path seems random, but it’s carefully constructed
I know exactly why I do the things I do

And you may try to reason with me
Try to argue moral ground
But I left right and wrong behind some time ago
So it’s best if you not make a sound
Don’t like it?

This is my design
This is my design
The way I’ve got you with me now
Is how I planned it all along
The perfect placement for a note in this sweet song

(Instrumental)

This is my design
This is my design
The way I’ve got you here right now
Is how I choose to make my art
And only I can hear the beating of your heart

I hear their footsteps on the floor above our heads
Seems my play is at an end
I’ll leave, you’ll live, you get away this time
But I hope we’ll meet again, my friend

This is my design
This is my design
The way you’re running from me now
Ain’t how I planned it from the start
But I have many ways to stop that beating heart

This is my design
This is my design
